Alright, so you're part of this rad group called the Liminal Layer Society, where a bunch of spellcasters like you are out there keeping our world safe from creepy beings that slip through from the Void. You’re about to dive into this place called the “Liminal Layer,” which is like a weird, trippy bridge between reality and the Void. Here’s the thing: you’re gonna die. A LOT. But that’s cool ‘cause each death actually brings you closer to these Void Gods who are pretty much your main targets. You get to pick one of four characters, each with their own vibe, spells, and all that jazz. And depending on who you roll with, you’ll unlock different endings. Fair warning: things are gonna get dark, messy, and straight-up confusing. Oh, and if you’re sensitive to flashing lights, this might not be the game for you. Seriously, there are tons of screen effects and stuff, but don’t worry—they’re working on a safe mode. To fight the Void Gods and all those freaky enemies, you’re gonna need “Sigils.” These are like your go-to currency for casting spells and jumping through portals to stay safe in the next layer. But here’s the kicker—your survival in each layer depends on your “Death Counter” and making sure those liminal entities don’t touch you. Die, and you’re thrown into a random layer, but you’ll miss out on snagging more Sigils.
Those liminal entities? Yeah, they are bad news. One touch, and you are toast. But they also hold souls, and if you’re quick, you can snatch those souls to power up your spells. Plus, every soul snatch buys you more time on your death counter, giving you the chance to grab even more Sigils. You may also be interested in the game Multiplication Mayhem To survive, you’ve got options: either soul snatch or destroy the entities before they get you. Your spells are your best friend in combat with different types working better against certain enemies. But remember, the stronger the spell, the more Sigils it costs. So, how do you make it to Layer 444? Well, you can either sit back, keep dying, and hit Layer 444 with zero Sigils, only to get wrecked by the Void Gods, OR you can fight like your life depends on it, gather a ton of Sigils, and have enough firepower to take on those gods in an epic battle. Spoiler: they are tanky as heck so brace yourself for a long to fight.
The game is got a rogue-inspired minimalist vibe, focusing on strategy and managing your resources. Death isn’t the end; it just means you get another shot in the next layer. Your score is all about how many kills soul snatches and Sigils you collect. With four unique characters, 16 different endings based on your choices, 32 spells, and over 20 different liminal entities to deal with, there’s a ton of variety. Plus, the soundtrack? It’s packed with guitar-heavy ambient tracks and some extreme metal to keep you pumped.
