Fire’s always behind you. You’ve gotta think fast. Some enemies are literally invisible unless you look at them through mirrors. Sometimes you can only see in total darkness. There are hidden messages scattered around, secret mechanics, and if you keep moving forward, you deal double damage. It’s one of those games where you’re constantly learning weird rules just to survive. You can upgrade your weapons to break through tougher obstacles and find Soulcores that let you unlock and teleport to completely new worlds. Along the way, you’ll be taking down massive ancient machines that feel way bigger than you. The whole experience runs about 2–3 hours, supports Xbox and PS4 controllers, and even has visual settings like contrast, brightness, and saturation to tweak the vibe. It’s playable on Steam Deck too. And yeah, it’s all made by one solo dev, Jamie D, which is kinda wild.
Story-wise, it goes deep. Before time even mattered, ancient gods were in charge of sending good souls to heaven and bad ones to hell. Eventually, they got tired of living forever and built this gigantic machine to handle the job for them so they could finally rest. That machine was called the Hellscreen.
