You play as Major Axel Vex, a hardcore veteran from the Extraterrestrial Incident Response team. You are sent out to check a Pain signal from Cengona Base this underground research convenience way out on some distant exoplanet. What starts off feeling like a standard mission instantly flips into a fight for survival when you realize something out there can mess with your mind and the world around you. Basically, everything wants you dead. You’ll be moving through 26 different sectors inside this huge underground base, and every area has its own creepy secrets and dangers waiting for you. Managing your supplies actually matters—if you waste resources or pick the wrong fight, it can seriously screw you over. As you explore, you’ll uncover logs, security footage, and the remains of the people who worked there, slowly piecing together what really happened.
The enemies you face are being Control by some mysterious biological force, so nothing ever feels predictable. The horror reacts to how you play, making every step forward feel risky. You will need to solve environmental puzzles while dodging creatures that track you through light and movement, so running around blindly is basically a death wish.
