ForgeTax is a dark first-person roguelite where you’re basically stuck working as a swordsmith for a dragon that owns your forge. Your job is to make valuable swords, push your luck, and somehow survive long enough to keep the dragon happy. Every run is about deciding how far you’re willing to risk things before everything goes horribly wrong.
You start by heating up a blade and taking it to the anvil. Every successful hit increases the sword’s value, but if you mess up, the whole thing can shatter. If you manage to forge the same sword 10 times, you charge up Frenzy. Once it’s ready, you can unleash it on your next hit and get a short period where you can hammer away without worrying about the sword breaking.
There’s also a strange relic machine that lets you trade swords for powerful relics. The problem is that every sword you put into the machine is one less sword you can give to the dragon. You’ll have to mess with draw tickets, combine weird effects, and find ways to turn small advantages into huge rewards. You can build your strategy around luck, or even find ways to completely change how luck works.
When you think you’ve made enough, put your swords on the counter and ring the bell to make your tribute. If the dragon is satisfied, you get another round at the anvil and can keep going. But if you fall short, something on the other side of those bars starts getting seriously impatient. You’ll constantly have to decide what to keep, what to sacrifice, and when it’s finally time to stop swinging.
